Each month, Womack Army Medical Center holds a Patient and Family Partnership Council meeting, but this month’s meeting took an unexpected turn. The regular gathering, aimed at addressing concerns and sharing feedback, transformed into a heartfelt tribute to the commander’s involvement and leadership. Beneficiaries seized the opportunity to express their gratitude for Col. David Zinnante’ s unwavering support and attendance at every meeting. They praised his commitment to listening to their concerns and his tireless efforts to improve beneficiary health care and the efficiency of the hospital's services.

Joint Behavioral Health Conference Highlights Suicide Prevention and New Models of Care

Behavioral Health leaders from Defense Health Network East and Military Readiness Command East gathered here to share best practices and highlight new programs that can improve care. For two days, the group heard from DHN East, MRC East and Defense Health Agency leaders on various topics that included pilot programs, telehealth, suicide prevention, PTSD, current research, and best practices. They discussed how to increase care capacity, involve installation and other support agencies in treatment and how to successfully lead their clinics.

Military Medical Personnel Train for Combat Situations in Capstone Event

As military medical personnel assigned to the Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) complete their residencies and prepare to assume their first duty station, they must possess a specific set of skills to excel in their roles. Twenty-seven trainees participated in a five-day capstone event, held at the Taylor Sandri Medical Training Center, Fort Liberty, North Carolina May 6 to 10, designed to bridge this critical training gap, providing medical personnel with the necessary skills and expertise to save lives in combat situations.

Prescription Refills Now Available Through MHS GENESIS Patient Portal

Tricare beneficiaries can now request prescription refills online from military pharmacies by logging into their MHS Genesis Patient Portal. You can now easily refill your prescriptions by selecting the “Rx Refills” tab in the upper right panel on the portal’s homepage.

20th Anniversary of Soldiers' deaths commemorated with Sunset Liberty March

March 20th marked the 20th Anniversary of the tragic loss of Lt. Col. Mark Taylor and Sgt. Matthew Sandri due to a rocket attack. To commemorate their sacrifice, Sandri’s parents, several leaders and staff from Womack Army Medical Center and various Units from across Fort Liberty came together for the Sunset Liberty March.

Ten tips to healthy eating for kids

It is a common idea that children inherit the traits and characteristics of their parents. “You are definitely your mother’s daughter, Jen” was the phrase I often heard growing up. I also remember looking over at my little girls as they took a bite of delicious food. They closed their eyes to savor the flavor, which is something I often do as well. What can I say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. It should come as no surprise that children also develop similar eating habits as a result of following their parents and therefore may develop the same health problems?
