Womack Forensic Team is Breaking the Silence and Building Resilience

As a registered nurse and Forensic Healthcare Program Manager for Womack Army Medical Center, Kelly Taylor and her team provides compassionate care and support to survivors of sexual assault. With a passion for forensics and a drive to make a difference, Taylor shares her journey and insights on the importance of consent, boundaries, and healthy relationships. Taylor’s path to becoming a sexual assault nurse examiner began while working in emergency medicine where she encountered patients that experienced trauma, physical and sexual abuse. “My passion was caring for patients that come in the most vulnerable moments of their lives and so I wanted to channel that passion into something meaningful,” said Taylor.

Empowering New Parents: Womack Army Medical Center's Maternity Fair

Womack Army Medical Center's recent Maternity Fair brought together experts and resources to support military families and new parents. This event highlighted the comprehensive services available to ensure a healthy and happy journey for parents and babies. More than 480 families attended the event that is held twice per year. This year the event held on Saturday, September 21st, was extended to 3 p.m. from the normal 10 to 2 p.m. Providing attendees with enough time to attend all the classes offered by the Fort Liberty Army Community Services and still have enough time to visit all the booths facilitated by Womack staff, Fort Liberty, and other local community services.

Womack Army Medical Center Commander, Col. David R. Zinnante relinquished command to Col. Stephanie L. Mont during a poignant change of command ceremony September 17, in the Weaver auditorium. The ceremony, attended by Womack staff, military personnel, family members, and distinguished guests, marked the culmination of Zinnante’ s two-year tenure. Under his leadership, Womack Army Medical Center achieved significant improvements in quality, safety, and readiness.

Womack Army Medical Center Celebrates 30 Years of Midwifery Excellence

The Womack Army Medical Center’s Midwifery program marked its 30th anniversary this month, celebrating decades of dedicated service, teaching, and patient care. Since its inception, the program has become a cornerstone of maternal healthcare at the medical center, providing essential services to a growing patient population. One of the key milestones in the program’s history was its role in training Family Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) residents. The program also became a Centering Pregnancy facility, a designation that facilitated group appointments and enhanced patient education. Though this service was temporarily suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic and again in 2023 due to staffing shortages, it remains a significant achievement in the program's history.

Beneficiaries seized the opportunity to express their gratitude for Col. David Zinnante’ s unwavering support and attendance at every meeting. They praised his commitment to listening to their concerns and his tireless efforts to improve beneficiary health care and the efficiency of the hospital's services.

Joint Behavioral Health Conference Highlights Suicide Prevention and New Models of Care

Behavioral Health leaders from Defense Health Network East and Military Readiness Command East gathered here to share best practices and highlight new programs that can improve care. For two days, the group heard from DHN East, MRC East and Defense Health Agency leaders on various topics that included pilot programs, telehealth, suicide prevention, PTSD, current research, and best practices. They discussed how to increase care capacity, involve installation and other support agencies in treatment and how to successfully lead their clinics.
