Interservice Physician Assistant (PA) Program

Possess a genuine passion to help others, are committed to excellence, have maturity, intellectual curiosity, and a strong desire for lifelong learning.

All officers, warrant officers and enlisted Soldiers are eligible to apply for IPAP.  We do not accept civilian applicants.

The PA program length is 29 months. The first 64 weeks is didactic phase in Fort Sam Houston.  Phase 2, is a clinical phase for 52 weeks.

The Womack IPAP does not accept resident transfers from other programs once the academic year begins.

The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the Interservice Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Army Medical Center of Excellence. Accreditation-Continued represents an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program remains in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards.

As an ARC-PA accredited program, all IPAP graduates are eligible to sit for the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants National Certification Examination (NCCPA PANCE). Upon successfully passing this initial certification examination, the graduate PA will be able to apply for initial clinical privilege.
